This pair approached us with the usual hard luck story.
They claimed to need a place for them and an infant. After paying the
first month's rent, and the security deposit, that's the last they
were current. From the time they moved in they paid NONE of the water
and Sewer bills, and stopped paying rent. At the official first threat
of legal action, they paid a partial month's rent, and then nothing
more. There was the usual assortment of reasons for non-payment, and a
constant promise of "this friday." The man claims to be a painter, and
the last known employment for the woman was as a barmaid. They
immediately move in large quantities of Junk, and park it around the
property. They also bring other friends in to live with them. At
times, we have witnessed 6 people living in a one bedroom apartment.
They bring trash from offsite, and use your facility to get rid of it.
Complaints of noise all night from the other tenants was confirmed by
security cameras. They have done physical damage to the premises,
resulting in hundreds in repairs. There were multiple occasions of
loud domestic fights from them and their "guests." They are heavy beer
drinkers. They have been through the eviction system several times,
and know how to maximize the rip-off. Our reccomendation is NOT to
rent to them. If you are unfortunate enough to have gotten them
embedded in your property already, I encourage you to follow through
to the letter of the law as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Here is a copy of the last court action. I'm happy to
share what we have with any other landlord.
